Frequently asked questions

What families want to know.

Is the program completely live online?

No. Students complete organized lessons and assignments independently through Google Classroom. This provides more flexibility than a full day of required live video classes.

What role does the parent or caregiver play?

The amount of adult support depends on the child's age and independence. Younger students typically need more help with routines, directions, and hands-on activities.

Can assignments be adjusted for my child?

Yes. Kuleana is very flexible in meeting the needs of each child. Teachers can adjust the length, format, pacing, or level of support for assignments when needed, while keeping learning meaningful and aligned with the student's goals.

Is Kuleana accredited, and will my child receive a transcript?

Yes. Kuleana Education Academy is an accredited private school. Enrolled students receive official school records, including transcripts documenting their completed coursework and academic progress.

Can students enroll from any Hawaiian island?

Yes. Our virtual program is designed to serve K–8 families statewide across Hawaiʻi.

How do we know which grade level is the best fit?

We look at your child's age, current placement, strengths, and needs. Our team can help your family think through the best starting point.
